Housing is one of the main functions of architecture, but good housing design requires a particular expertise. The requirements of individuals are balanced with the challenge of sustainable design to produce high quality, environmentally friendly eco homes. Some clients want a ‘forever home’ where accessibility in later life is a priority, while others want a light-weight temporary shelter, like a yurt or bender, so they can focus their efforts on growing food. Learning about the uniqueness of each client is one of the joys of being an architect. We have many year’s experience of producing eco-homes of an excellent standard, using straw bale construction, hempcrete, cob, stone and timber, as well as modern, hi-tec eco-homes.
